Teaching our Children; Building our Future! Youth Ministries at Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church begin as young as pre-school and continue through the 12th grade. We encourage and welcome all guests and visitors to our programs! Learn more (see sidebar) about what we offer all age groups for the year. During the 2020-21 school year we plan to conduct Sunday School every Sunday morning starting at 10:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., from Sept. 13 through May. At this point, with COVID-19 restrictions, we are waiting to plan additional events.
Our calendar normally includes a Halloween Party, Pumpkin Hunt, Christmas Program, Movie Night, Bowling Outing, Family Game Night, Palm Sunday Bake Sale & so much more! However, due to the COVID-19 situation, planning is delayed. Please check the calendar as events are added.
TMLC offers Pre-school through 6th grade Sunday School and Jr. High & High School classes and activities from September through May. The children learn through hands on activities, games, and even food! Sunday School is held each Sunday morning from 10:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Bible memorization, particularly for kids, can be difficult. The Bible is filled with big words and difficult concepts. But our memory work is geared toward each child's age.
We also believe the Word of God is a potent weapon against sin. The Word of God, when memorized, is a strong influence for righteous living and for Godliness.
The Bible tells us in Hebrews 4:12 that the Word of God is "living and active" which means that by memorizing it and taking it in and making it a part of ourselves it will, in turn, make us more like Christ.
Pre-School through 6th Grade - Memory Work
TMLC offers Pre-school through 6th grade Sunday School and activities from September through May. The children learn through hands on activities, games, and even food! Sunday School is held each Sunday morning from 10:20 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Please see the calendar for dates and times of the extracurricular activities.
Our Sunday School classes for this age group are Sunday mornings from 10:45 a.m. through 11:30 a.m. On the last Sunday of each month, we hold birthday celebrations for each student whose birthday occurred that month! In addition, various other activities are held throughout the year to commemorate holidays, functions, and annual events that are sponsored by the Sunday School.
We encourage our children, not only to learn on Sunday mornings, but also during the week so memory work is incorporated into their lessons based on their grade level.

Returning to in-person classes safely
The TMLC Board of Education has reviewed the Indiana Public Schools’ guidelines for reopening and have taken steps to provide as safe of a physical environment as we can. Should we experience a second wave of the virus, it is possible in-person classes could be cancelled for the safety of both our students and our staff.
We hope it goes without saying that no one who is ill should be in Sunday school, either adults or children.
Masks required: In compliance with our city and state current requirements, all individuals age 2 and over should wear a mask while in the building. The mask should cover the nose and mouth. Classroom Space: We have reviewed the anticipated attendance numbers and expect to have four separate classrooms, providing more social distancing space in each classroom. Tables, chairs and touchpoints in classrooms will be sanitized regularly. We will provide each child with a pencil box of his or her own, with supplies so that children do not need to share markers, Crayons, glue bottles, etc. Teachers will ensure that any snacks provided during the SS hour are served in the most hygienic way possible in the classroom and that handwashing is observed. Individually packaged snacks are recommended.
Sunday School Curriculum: Enduring Faith
In a culture that is rapidly changing and, in many cases, changing in ways that are contrary to the teachings of the church, it's important that our children are armed with the Word of God. We are continuing with our use of the Concordia Publishing House curriculum "Enduring Faith." Our goal is to use the very best materials that are faithful to the scripture and Lutheran confessions. Classes will have a core Bible study lesson along with activities such as games, crafts, or a snack to reinforce the lesson taught. Be sure to be on the lookout for a take home sheet so that you can discuss the lesson learned from your child.
The teachers for our 6th, 7th & 8th grades use age-appropriate Bible based materials, promoting group discussion and encouraging young teens to closely examine scripture to see how God's word truly impacts their lives. Lessons in connection with their confirmation study will also be used. Sr. High also uses various Bible study series that guides our high schoolers through the teenage years in a positive way. Many topics include what is current in their world and God's answer.
We invite you to join us!
