"The Mother's Day Sermon"
It was May 12th 1914. Ann Jarvis had succeeded in having the second Sunday in May recognized as a national Holiday, Mother's Day. Ann's mother had founded Mother's day Work Clubs across the Mason Dixon line. Its purpose was to unite families seperated by the Civil War, and to help feed, clothe and treat the wounds of Union and Confederate soldiers. it was "mothering" work at its highest calling, and Ann had decided to honor her mother's efforts by having Mother's Day recognized nationally.
